The UK Government launched UK Infrastructure: A Ten-Year Strategy on June 19th, 2025. It is a highly ambitious, whole system reform of how infrastructure is planned and managed in the UK, backed by £725bn of public investment. Mayoral Strategic Authorities (MSAs) are expected to co-produce strategies and plans that align economic and social infrastructure priorities and oversee their delivery. They can be integral to and co-produce the new national infrastructure system with Government’s National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority (NISTA). This LEDC episode considers what the strategy means for MSAs, and also for other Local and Combined Authorities and the devolved nations.
