The resignation of Angela Rayner on September 5th was the catalyst for a major reshuffle of senior posts in the UK Government. This included a largely new ministerial team at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG). With the six-person team including five former councillors - three ex-Leaders and one Deputy-Leader, an ex senior civil servant, former high profile socio-economic think tank and campaigning practitioners, there is an impressive breadth of relevant expertise for the political leadership of this crucial department. In this Espresso Shot and Biscotti Briefing, David and Mike consider how influential they can be with No 10 and Treasury on critical agendas for the UK Government. What can local and regional role players do to help deliver and even improve ongoing system reforms?
