The NHS Ten-Year Health Plan for England: fit for the future was published on 3 July 2025.  Each of its ambitions for three radical shifts – hospital to community, analogue to digital, and sickness to prevention – could have significant impacts on how LED is delivered in England. In this episode LEDC explores how:

  • Explicitly recognising the NHS as a local anchor institution can reshape local economies, with new neighbourhood centres and integrated care systems among many local opportunities

  • The digital shift can catalyse digital health and med-tech sector growth raising demand for new skills and training provision

  • Statutory Mayoral duties to address health inequalities and promote prevention should contribute to a healthier, more productive workforce, reducing economic inactivity.
